The current set of zoning ordinances for St Louis County haven't been updated since 1993.  Those regulations govern how land can be used within the confines of the largest county in the State of Minnesota.

Those plans are about to see an update.

A draft of the changes has been made and now the county is looking for input from the public.  If you would like to make your voice heard, you're asked to attend one of two scheduled public meetings:

  • Wednesday, January 28, 4-6 PM at the Northland Office Center, Liz Prebich Conference Room, Third Floor, 307 1st Street South, Virginia
  • Wednesday, February 4, 1-3 PM at the Richard H. Hansen Public Works and Transportation Complex 4787 Midway Road, Duluth

One of the key changes affects how land zones are designated as well as an addition on the zoning of landfills, dumpsites, and gravel pits.
