One of the building landmarks for Duluths' burgeoning music scene is set to see some improvements.  The Sacred Heart Music Center is the recipient of a grant that will see improvements for the almost-120-year-old building.

The grant will help with structural improvements, make masonry repairs to the bell tower, and restore the roof to a historically accurate design. The Sacred Heart Cathedral is on the National Register of Historic Places.

The planned repairs will complete the necessary improvements to ensure the building’s future longevity for community programs and events. The project will be completed by the end of 2015.

The Sacred Heart Music Center once served as a  church of the Diocese of Duluth prior to desconsecration in 1987.
