Ribbon Cutting Ceremony And Dedication Of Bob Pratt Pavilion August 8th

Michael Steele /Allsport

Duluth Mayor Don Ness invites all of Duluth to join him and the Bob Pratt family for the ribbon cutting and dedication of the Bob Pratt Pavilion at the Jean Duluth Road soccer fields Friday August 8th at 4 pm.

Bob Pratt was an active member of the soccer community and died of cancer in May 2011 at the age of 58. Bob was active in coordinating various soccer clubs, was a member of Arrowhead Youth Soccer Association Board of Directors, a founder and active member of Fields for Duluth, a founder of the East Select Soccer Club, helped establish the Lake Superior Open Soccer Tournament, coached many teams, and volunteered in many other soccer projects. Bob was instrumental in establishing several soccer fields in Duluth and was arguably the primary force behind the establishment of the Jean Duluth Soccer Complex.

The new pavilion will provide much needed weather shelter, storage, and a permanent concessions facility at the Jean Duluth Soccer Complex for the thousands of players from the Duluth area, as well as the Twin Cities and beyond, who play there every summer.

The complex includes 5 well groomed fields which can hold more games and allow more age groups to play at a time. The concession area will add to the area and will also be a money maker for the complex.

Mayor Ness, Dave Geary, and members of the Pratt family will participate in a ribbon cutting ceremony, provide brief comments, and be available for questions.
