I watched the DVD Concert For Bangladesh again over the weekend. It's one of my all time favorites. Should you take my advice and rent or buy a copy for yourself, be sure it's HD. Today I thought I'd make my song of the day My Sweet Lord which George sings at the concert. Here is what the song is about.

This was Harrison's first single as a solo artist, and it was his biggest hit. The song is about the Eastern religions he was studying. The lyrics contain references to the Hare Krishna faith, with some of their mantra written into the lyrics. Harrison said he was pointing out that "Hallelujah and Hare Krishna are quite the same thing."

In the documentary The Material World, Harrison explains: "First, it's simple. The thing about a mantra, you see... mantras are, well, they call it a mystical sound vibration encased in a syllable. It has this power within it. It's just hypnotic."
