While "Honky Chateau" made Elton John a true superstar, his follow up album " Don't Shoot Me I'm Only the Piano Player" solidified his status.

For my money, there are four songs on the album that get me pumped. "Crocodile Rock" was the first of many #1 singles by Elton John in America, "Daniel," "I'm Gonna be a Teenage Idol," and a great rocker "Elderberry Wine." Mixed in with the four I mentioned are several melodies which I'm sure were designed to balance the album out, however, the four rockers carried the album up the charts, not the melodies.

That being said, the album still managed to chart #1 on the Billboard Top 200 in the Spring of 1973. All in all, it's a well crafted album, and a must for the Elton John fan.
