Everyone heads north to the Twin Ports area to find some peace from the big cities, Duluth and Superior offer that getaway while still being in a city.. I always get emails from people heading up here from other states and southern Minnesota asking what to do while in the area. There are quite a few things, but the bigger ones I've got listed here.

If you are up in the area past the 4th,  take in a little concert at Glensheen's Concerts by the Pier which begins at 7 pm, the first one is on July 6th with members of Trampled by Turtles. The concerts are free, there's music and Glensheen’s seven acres of formal gardens, vegetable gardens, and rocky Lake Superior shoreline.

You can enjoy some ice cream or a malt and take in the Sailboat Races which you can see from  the Duluth Lake Walk. They start informally at 6 pm and go for about two hours on Wednesdays.

Some people from Minneapolis mention the Rides from the Thomas Shows are in the DECC parking lot, and there are plenty of outdoor concerts going on in the area, either in the Canal or at the Bayfront, which will feature Hairball on July 3rd, there's always live music around the area.

There's Fourth Fest at the Bayfront beginning at 4 pm, with music. Then the fireworks get underway at 10:10 pm. Why not take a cruise aboard the Vista Fleet and see the lake up close and enjoy the fireworks later. This is a great way to see places you can't drive or walk.

There's also a Duluth Huskies Baseball game at 1:05pm at the Historic Wade Stadium.

There is also live music around the city on July 4th in the evening with plenty of time to enjoy the fireworks.

You can walk downtown and enjoy many of our great shops and vendors, as well as our Canal park and watch the Bridge and Ships pass through. Our Duluth Lake Walk stretches across the city and brings you to the Rose Garden in Lief Erickson Park.

You can enjoy a train ride from the Depot, or take in a show at the Duluth Playhouse. You can also escape up the North Shore and take scenic Hwy 61 and sit by the lake or have a picnic with your loved ones.
