The completion date for the multi-year Oliver Bridge is coming - albeit longer than anticipated.  The bridge is expected to be fully-open to daytime  weekday traffic at the end of the day on Tuesday, November 21 according to news reports.

All summer long, officials with CN have been shifting the final closure date - first saying it would be mid-summer, then fall, finally being promised for November 17 - unless they encountered delays;  that date has come and gone and drivers will be met with the usual orange cones and signs for a couple of days longer.

It's been a long couple of years for drivers who use the Oliver Bridge as part of their weekday commute - with the bridge closing each weekday at 8:00 AM and not opening again until 5:00 PM.  The work however has been worth it.  According to officials from CN, crews have been able to strengthen the railroad track that runs above the vehicle roadway - adding years to the lifespan of the 107-year old structure.
