Apparently there isn't enough cash in the coffers for the Obama campaign.  In a new fundraising campaign, Obama directs Americans to consider giving up their wedding, birthday, and special event presents;  Instead, he wants citizens to convince their loved ones to donate to his Presidential campaign instead.

"Got a birthday, anniversary, or wedding coming up? Let your friends know how important this election is to you -- register with Obama 2012, and ask for a donation in lieu of a gift," the Obama campaign says on its website.

"It's a great way to support the President on your big day," it continues. "Plus, it's a gift that we can all appreciate -- and goes a lot further than a gravy bowl."

After winning election in 2008, Obama's campaign team thought that 2012 would be a roll-over;  A worsening economy, lackluster public approval numbers, broken campaign promises, and multiple scandals have now placed the administration on the defensive attack.
