Northland Chapter Of The American Red Cross Responds To Two Mobile Home Fires In Douglas County

Local Red Cross volunteers have provided assistance to two people after a fire in Douglas County destroyed two mobile homes on Schiff Road in Lakeside.  Two disaster responders from the agency responded to the fire and provided food, seasonal clothing and shoes, and emergency lodging in a local hotel.

Unfortunately, the holidays are often  the busiest fire season for the Red Cross - according to Chapter Executive Director Judy Hanne Gonzalez.  They remind people to exercise special care with space heaters, candles, smoking materials, and cooking,  This is also a good time replace the batteries in your smoke detectors.
