The Northland Chapter of the American Red Cross is assisting a Cloquet-area family of three that lost their home to a fire on September 19th.  Along with emergency lodging, the Red Cross is helping them get their lives back in order with food and clothing as well.

Officials from the Red Cross remind people to practice home safety tips and be aware of the potential dangers.   Often, kitchens and cooking - along with the unsafe use of candles, are two primary causes of fires.

The fall season is also a good time for Northlanders to remember to practice safe home-heating practices, as we gear up for colder weather

The Northland Chapter of the American Red Cross responds to about 100 local disasters annually.

More information about our local Red Cross chapter can be found here.

Fire safety tips are also available, at the national website of the Red Cross.
