Since the beginning of time, criminals have tried to stay one step ahead of technology to get the upper hand to perform their devious deeds.  Get ready for the next round.

Criminals are taking advantage of new technology that allows them to snap a picture of your key on their smartphone, send it to a processing company, and have an actual key mailed to them at their address - which will unlock your door.

At its core, the service is above-board and useful.  Think about it - you can have a duplicate key cut for your house or car without having to actually go to a locksmith;  Snap the picture, send it, and the company's digital technology cuts an exact key for you.

But like a lot of services that are useful, criminals have taken it a step further to use it for malicious reasons.
