Midway Road is one of those popular cut-through routes that allows easy travel for drivers in the western-half of Duluth and parts of Hermantown and Proctor.  It's also a popular route for drivers traveling from I-35 to Highway 53 and the Iron Range - allowing a short cut that navigates around Duluth.

One of the hazards of Midway Road is the railroad crossing that happens near the Adolph Store.  Often, it's possible to be caught off guard that a train is passing through and that traffic has backed up;  sometimes it isn't until you've crested the hill that you become aware of the traffic backups.

A new digital road sign - a partnership between the City of Hermantown and St. Louis County - looks to solve this issue.

According to the Hermantown Police Department's Facebook page, the sign will be activated sometime in the next few weeks.
