Even as investigators moved to have the official cause changed on Natalie Wood's death certificate over the weekend, they say they are no closer to determining exactly what happened 31 years ago in the Pacific Ocean.

While the Los Angeles County Sheriff's department requested the change, they say that the case is "open and ongoing".

The change stem from doubt in the official autopsy from 1981.

A police source said Thursday night: ‘There were bruises on the body that cannot be explained by drowning.’

However, investigators are quick to say that those bruises don't necessarily mean that there was foul play involved.

Other details of the case remain as they have been since November 29, 1981.
