With our annual St. Jude Radiothon starting tomorrow on our sister station B105, and  Kool 101.7, I thought it might be of interest to note many Nascar drivers have visited the children at St. Jude Childrens Hospital over the years.

Last year NASCAR drivers J.J. Yeley and Denny Hamlin toured St. Jude Children's Research Hospital June 20 where they visited with patient families and learned more about the ongoing fight against childhood catastrophic diseases. For Yeley, the visit gave him the first chance to meet St. Jude patient Jake Raborn and his family. Jake's grandfather met Yeley after a race and told the driver of his grandson's fight and how Jake was a big fan of Yeley's. Since then Yeley has had a photo of Jake in his car when he races.

After the visit, Hamlin told a local reporter, "This place is going to stay with me for a long time to come. The relationships I've built with some of these kids, really puts a special place in your heart for them."

Watch the video of Denny Hamlin's race car catch fire.
