Telephone lines for the radiothon are installed, staff and the St. Jude crew get the conference room ready for what will turn out to be another great year raising over 75,000 for St. Jude.

I was truly not ready for what was involved with carrying out a fundraiser of this size. As I stood around trying to get a grasp of what was going on. Chris, Steve my bosses along with my co workers moved in and out of stories and stats, asking for that call to come in, while on the other end of the radiothon volunteers were taking calls and the St. Jude staff keeping numbers rolling and give out stats to the on air staff. Great oiled machine running along and I try to hop aboard and join in on my first radiothon.

It was not a hard job to do physically but wow emotionally it is draining. The story of the children and family affected by cancer is so emotionally charged to motivate people to call in and help. I would see the staff quickly take off there headphones so they did not hear the story and many did cry, so much emotion. I did lose it myself when I shared about my dad's battle with cancer.

Will I do it again? Oh yeah I will. Thanks to everyone who became a PIH.
