An Iron Range road project will close a main route into Mountain Iron for 3 weeks - beginning Monday, July 7.

Mineral Avenue will be closed between the US 169 interchange and downtown Mountain Iron (approximately 1,000 feet north of the interchange). This road closure will allow for the construction of a new intersection of Mineral Avenue and the new County State Aid Highway (CSAH) 102. Mineral Avenue is expected to re-open to traffic on Friday, July 25.

Drivers should watch for changing detour information.

Changeable message signs will be placed on US-169 notifying traffic of the upcoming road closure. Traffic will be detoured onto US-169, 3rd Street (CSAH 109) and Old Highway 169 (CSAH 102). Traffic signs will be posted for the detour route. To access downtown Mountain Iron during this road closure, it is recommended to turn from US-169 onto 3rd Street (CSAH 109), at L & M Fleet Supply, and then turn left onto Old Highway 169 (CSAH 102).
