One thing about living in the Northland:  You learn to never count on the weather.  It's the weather that's causing a cancellation and rescheduling of the routine bridge inspections that were scheduled for the Bong Bridge on May 8 and May 9.

Due to the wind and the rainy conditions, the Minnesota Department of Transportation has rescheduled the part of the inspections that were to occur on the ramp from southbound I-35 to eastbound Highway 2 for Monday, May 14 - between the hours of 8:30 AM and 3:00 PM.  The other part of the inspection - that was to happen on the ramp from northbound I-35 - will be rescheduled for another date to be determined in the future.

The inspections are part of the routine survey that is taken on the bridges and roadways in the the Twin Ports metro.  MNDOT usually schedules these inspections to happen outside of the "drive time hours" - i.e. they're normally scheduled to happen during the middle of the work day, when most drivers are already at work.  As with any road work, officials with the Minnesota Department of Transportation request that drivers exercise caution when driving through work or inspection zones.
