A popular route "back" to the Northland is scheduled for some resurfacing work the last half of this summer.  Highway 48 east out of Hinckley will see lane closures and one-way traffic beginning September 11 as work crews make significant improvements to the roadway.

To get drivers ready and to communicate the plans, the Minnesota Department of Transportation has scheduled a public information meeting for Wednesday, August 16 at the City of Hinckley Community Room:  106 1st Street SE in Hinckley.  The session will begin at 4:00 PM.

It seems that many people take the Highway 48 route to and from the Twin Ports area into Hinckley.  The route is especially popular with a lot of motorcyclists as the rural highways back to Superior provide a scenic ride.
