When you say tipping in the state of Minnesota, most people think cows. It's actually a method for winterizing roses. The City of Duluth is inviting the public to help tip roses in the Rose Garden at Leif Erikson Park. This community event will be held on Saturday, October 21 from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Also, on Monday, October 23 from 3 - 6 p.m.

According to the City of Duluth, you don't have to have any experience. There will be trained professionals there to help you and teach you the Minnesota Tipping method for you to take home and apply to your roses at home. The Minnesota Tip Method is a process to help protect the roses from the harsh conditions that are part of a typical Duluth Winter.

This is a great event for families and or church and civic groups to get involved. Those wishing to be a part of the event are asked to please arrive at the Rose Garden, located between 12th and 13th Avenue East on London Road, on the specified dates. Check-in with Duluth Parks staff. Free parking is available in the lot between Valentini's and the Rose Garden. Dress for the weather. All tools and supplies will be provided, including work gloves.

Time and dates are subject to change due to weather conditions. You can visit the Parks and Rec at DuluthParksMN or contact Cheryl Skafte at 218-730-4334 or cskafte@duluthmn.gov for up-to-date information on the Rose Tipping events.
