The author of the classic children's book Where The Wild Things Are has passed away.  Maurice Sendak dies at the age of 83 due to complications from a stroke.

Originally published in 1963, Where The Wild Things Are won numerous literary awards - including the illustrious Caldecott Medal in 1964.

Sendak wrote numerous other books - and not all of them for children.  However, his greatest success came from the books he wrote for kids and he was okay with the literary world categorizing him as a children's author.
