Loaves And Fishes Need Your Help For The Homeless

Loaves and Fishes Community offers hospitality and advocacy to and with people experiencing homelessness and poverty and is asking for help.

Loaves and Fishes are made up of volunteers and run on almost no budget, so they depend entirely on small gifts of cash and goods to continue the work. This is posted on their facebook page and they asked for shares so that the word gets out.

If you would like to help donations are accepted Monday-Saturday 10am-8pm at 1712 Jefferson St, Duluth, or by appointment by calling 218-724-2054.

Loaves and Fishes are in need of the following volunteers:

• Plumbers to help with small to medium size projects around the houses
• Bike mechanics to help at the Bike Cave for weekly or monthly shifts
• Volunteers for the Bob Tavani Respite House - help cook, clean, welcome guests and more.

They are also in need of the following: (BOLD = running pretty low!)

• Eggs (home raised are a-ok!)
• Cheese
• Coffee and creamer
• Sugar
• Butter and margarine
• Healthy breakfast cereal
• Tomato products (sauce, paste or diced -- large cans preferred)
• Canned tuna
• Napkins
• Toilet paper
• Ground and stew meat (beef, pork, wild game)
• Peanut butter (no added sugar preferred)
• Laundry detergent (HE or powder, large containers preferred)
• Dish detergent
• Hand soap (individual dispensers and/or refill bottles)
• Matches and lighters
• Shampoo and conditioner
• Body wash
• Disposable gloves (vinyl or nitrile)
• Tampons and pads
• Toothpaste and toothbrushes
• NEW socks in all sizes (child and adult), cotton and thermal
• NEW men’s and women’s underwear (all sizes)
• 7-day and single ride bus passes
• Gift cards to area gas stations ($10-$25 preferred)
• Gift cards to Super One, Cub, or Whole Foods Co-op
• Cash donations to cover house expenses.

Special requests

• Storage space (accessible basement, garage or warehouse) to store furniture and other large donations
• Projector
• House guitar - for Dorothy Day House, ours was stolen after 8 years :(
