Starting this upcoming week, the City of Duluth will begin the process of storm water drain maintenance and restoration.

According to WDIO, From Tuesday, June 26th through Thursday, June 28th the eastern segment of the Lakewalk Trail will be closed to the public. Debris from the waves and high lake levels are having an effect on the flow of rain water. The drains are located underneath the trail between 21st Ave East and 16th Ave East.

Once the work on the storm drain is done, the Parks and Recreation Department is going to do a permanent restoration of the pavement and foundation to try and prevent future erosion. The city hopes that everything can be completed in the three days they have put aside for the project.

The plan is to also restore some storm related damage to the western segment of the Lakewalk Trail this upcoming fall.
