The snow has already started in the greater Duluth / Superior area, and plenty more is expected as a system moves through and leads to lake effect snow tomorrow.

The system that started the snowfall this morning (Wednesday) will lead to continue to produce snow for the Twin Ports, North Shore, and South Shore, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a lake effect snow advisory in effect until 6:00 pm Thursday.

The advisory warns that the warned areas could see up to 6 or more inches of snow before Thursday night. Elevated areas along the lake are most likely to see the 6+ inches, while lower elevations near the lake and areas further from the shoreline will more likely see 4-6 inches.

Gusty winds of 15-30 MPH will drop visibility in the warned areas, so travel may be difficult especially Wednesday night and morning hours of Thursday.

As always, we will have the latest travel conditions and weather-related announcements as they become available.
