Kelly Clarkson Outperforms American Idol Alums; Sets New Sales Record As She Continues To Embrace Country Music
I've said for a long time now that Kelly Clarkson has talent. In a society where reality television too often awards contestants recording contracts when they shouldn't, Clarkson has been a refreshing breathe of fresh air - delivering on the promise.
It was reported this week that Kelly Clarkson has now surpassed her fellow American Idol alumni in sales figures; Her single "(What Doesn't Kill You Makes You) Stronger" has sold more copies than any other single released by a former contestant of that television show.
At the same time, Clarkson is re-embracing her country roots - if she really ever left them. Born in Texas, Kelly is a natural fit on the country charts and is seeming to have good success there. A duet with Jason Aldean a year or so ago was a genuine hit, and now her remixed version of "Mr Know It All" is giving her a solo country winner.
