The 2016 running of Grandma's Marathon represents the 40th anniversary of the world-class event that happens in Duluth each June.  To commemorate the occasion, Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton has proclaimed Saturday, June 18 to be Grandma's Marathon Day in the state of Minnesota.

Dayton's official certification notes that since 1977, a total of 193, 629 people have finished the course and the event has grown to draw participants from all around the world.
