Expect to pay more for your favorite Italian wines and imported foods;  Two recent earthquakes have caused destruction in their paths that are expected to affect prices for consumers.

The extent of the damage is far-reaching to "foodies".

[A]bout one million wheels of Parmigiano Reggiano and Grana Padano cheese were violently thrown off wooden aging racks and smashed to the ground, while the balsamic vinegar sector lost approximately $19 million in damages.

Italian officials say that while there was some damage to vineyards and wineries, the extent of it wasn't as severe as it was to the cheese and vinegar producers.

Authorities say that it could take years for the damage to be recouped.
