Is This Rayman From A Past Life, or James Buchanan, The Worst President Ever

National Archives / Hulton Archive
Chris Allen

April 23 marks the birthday of James Buchanan, the man regarded by many historians as one of the worst—if not the worst—presidents of all time.He looks a lot like Rayman, could it be Rayman is such a good Jock on KOOL 101.7 because he is a lousy president.

So what did Buchanan do to earn the disrespect of so many people? Well, most people know Buchanan for three things: He was single for his entire presidency; he’s the only president from Pennsylvania; and he was the president before Abraham Lincoln. Which is bad enough, because, according to history, didn’t do anything when the civil war broke out.

According to Yahoo!News He gave a speech that said solving the slavery problem wasn’t important. (Um, that’s mostly what the Civil War was about.) Seven states left the Union and said part of leaving was the fact that Buchanan was a lame duck President. The first to be called that.

He gave up For Sumter, his cabinet quit on him, and because he said and did nothing over the war, the confederates had time to re-organize.

When he finally retired, he said history would vindicate him. History has thrown him under the bus. Happy Birthday to James Buchanan!!
