Mention rhubarb to someone not from our region and they'll give you a puzzled look.  That's because while the vegetable grows plentifully in the Northland, most other parts of the country don't see it in their gardens or yards.  In addition, many people are confused over what to do with the plant in the kitchen;  while rhubarb is a vegetable by classification, most people prepare it as if it was a fruit.

You can learn more about this bountiful (and delicious) produce at the Rhubarb Festival - Saturday, June 25 - presented by CHUM.  The event will take place at 11th Ave East and London Road.  Starting at 9:00 AM, a variety of vendors, exhibitors, and demonstrators will be on hand at the event grounds to educate and inspire your culinary skills with an abundance of rhubarb.

In addition, the Duluth Police have issued a Traffic Advisory in relation to Saturday's Rhubarb Festival.  Starting at 6:00 AM on June 25, the 1100 block of London Road will close to traffic to allow for set up of the Rhubarb Festival.  Routine east-bound traffic will not be allowed on London Road past 10th Avenue East and west-bound traffic will be diverted up 12th Avenue East.  However, there will be event parking allowed inside these barricaded areas on the upper and lower sides of London Road during the festival.  The roadway is expected to completely open to traffic again by 6:00 PM.
