Heads up if you travel south on I-35 towards the Twin Cities.  A summer-long road project is set to get underway next week that will affect your route.

Crews with the Minnesota Department of Transportation will start a resurfacing and bridgework project in Pine County beginning April 11.  The work will center around the St. Croix Valley Bridge - just two miles south of Hinckley.

The first week of the project will see temporary lane closures as workers get ready for the main part of the work.  Then - starting April 11, all northbound lanes will be diverted to the southbound side, and the head-to-head traffic configuration will last the remainder of the summer.

Roadwork on this project is expected to wrap up in late October 2016.
