Even as the snow continues to melt, the summer road construction season has kicked-off in full force.  A multitude of projects have orange cones popping up all over around the Northland as well as some of the roads often traveled by Twin Ports residents.  One of those projects will affect drivers on I-35 in Pine County between Duluth and the Twin Cities.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation is alerting drivers of a closure on the northbound lanes of I-35 and a detour - starting Monday, May 14 at 10:00 AM and ending on Tuesday, May 15 by 1:00 AM.

In order to facilitate the closing, MNDOT is detouring drivers off of I-35 at HIghway 7, utilizing Highway 61 through Pine City, re-entering I-35 at Highway 11.

The scope of the work to be completed is part of a larger project to replace the bridge at the Snake River and to resurface seven miles of I-35.  At this time only the northbound lanes will be affected at the Snake River Bridge.
