I'm not perfect - but - I prefer proper grammar at all costs. I'm the co-worker that reminds people that there is no such thing as a "first annual" event and that "Daylight Saving Time" is not a plural event (there is no "s" on savings).  So, this plea caught my eye.

It seems that many people have a problem pluralizing their name for their Christmas cards.  You know what I'm talking about - when they write "Merry Christmas from The Smiths" or "Merry Christmas from The Vitalis".  A lot of people have no problem with how to pluralize their last name if there isn't an "s" on the end of it already.  But, what do you do if there is - like if your last name is "Thomas"?

In general, you should never add an apostrophe to a last name to pluralize it.  Never.  It's wrong.  Instead, you should be adding a simple "s" - unless your last name contains s, x, z, ch, sh as the last letters - then you would add an "es".

Happy Christmas card writing!
