How Much Does Garbage Service In Superior Cost? City Proposes New Fees

The extra-high property taxes paid by residents of the City of Superior and Douglas County have always been explained  with the phrase:  "But that includes the cost of garbage and recycling service".  A new proposal from the Mayors Office and the City Council would add an additional $20 minimum fee on to that - to subsidize the landfill operations.

One question that immediately comes up is whether or not city and county residents would see a reduction in the amount of their property taxes by the amount of the new fee - seeing as how those taxes would no longer be subsidizing the operation.

If you live in Superior, are you okay with this?  What are your thoughts?  Well, you'll have the opportunity to tell your city leaders at a series of meetings designed to gather public opinion. These meetings would be held at the Superior Public Library on the following dates:
