There's been a run on vehicle prowls lately in the Twin Ports.  Usually thieves are looking to score money to turn into drugs and they'll find it in the easiest possible places.  That's why it's important for you to maintain smart common sense to make sure you're not an easy target.

The Duluth Police Department has issued some important reminders on how to make your vehicle less of a target for these criminals.  These tips can be summarized as follows:

  • Lock your vehicle.  It sounds simple - but it usually works.  Most thieves are looking for an easy score;  If your car is locked, they'll move on to another.
  • Don't store valuable items in your vehicle.  If you need to leave something in your car, make sure that it is out of sight.  Certain items should never be stored in a vehicle - like cash, credit cards, checks, keys, and personal identification cards.
  • Park in a well-lit, busy, open area.

A little common sense can go a long way towards keeping your car safe from crimes.
