History Of The Drive-In Theater

I’m sure we all have a favorite story or two about our adventures at the drive in theater. I could tell you a few of my own as well. Have you ever wondered how the drive in movie theater started?  The post below gives you a good history, and it may even bring back a few memories of yours..

 

The drive-in debuted long before that heyday: June 6, 1933, in Pennsauken Township, N.J. By then, Richard Hollingshead Jr. had spent five years tinkering with the concept. He knew cars could be a cash cow from watching his father who, in 1905, presciently switched the family business from manufacturing harness soap to making auto products.
