A box culvert that is failing underneath Hill Avenue will see that roadway closed for the remainder of the summer while crews work to make repairs.  The stretch of Hill Avenue between Belknap and North 21st Street will close to traffic from June 6 to September 30.

Through traffic will be detoured via a different route that will be posted.  Residents who own homes in the area will be granted access, but they should expect delays depending on what time of day they're attempting to use the roadway.

The box culvert on Faxon Creek was heavily affected by the heavy storm and the resulting floods of June 2012.  A research study performed after that time detailed that the existing culvert is too small in size and doesn't allow enough water to flow;  that narrow flow created some of the flooding problem at that time - which affected more than 200 properties in the area.  The replacement culvert will be much larger.
