It IS the summer road construction season and a project that's set to begin on Monday will affect one of the routes residents on the Iron Range use to get to the Twin Cities.

Motorists will encounter a traffic detour on Highway 73 in St. Louis County beginning Monday, July 7, as crews begin a bridge replacement project at the West Swan River. The detour will remain in place until approximately August 22.

The West Swan River Bridge is located about one mile south of County Road 16 and about ten miles south of Hibbing. The posted detour will use County Roads 16, 18 and 20.

The new bridge will improve safety and freight movement.
