Highway 65 Traffic Detour Begins June 21st Near Bigfork

A northland highway is set for road construction this summer;  With the project comes a detour - on Highway 65 near Littlefork - beginning Friday, June 21st.

Specifically, motorists traveling on northbound and southbound Highway 65 will be detoured onto Koochiching County Road 8;  The detour is expected to add 30 minutes to travel time.

The detour will be in place until August 9, 2013  - and is necessary to allow crews the chance to replace four bridges on Highway 65 with box culverts.

A second detour will also be in place from August 2nd through the 30th.  This detour will be located near Silverdale on St. Louis County Roads 74, 356, and 23, and on Bureau of Indian Affairs 11.  This particular detour will add about 10-minutes to drive time.

The finished project will improve drainage and replace several aging bridges.
