Top section seeded Hermantown and number 2 seed Duluth Marshall clashed on the ice at Amsoil Arena for the 2015 Section 7A title and trip to the MSHSL Boys Hockey Tournament at the Xcel Energy Center next week.

Both teams played a tight game through the first period, remaining scoreless through the first 17 minutes of play. The Hawks capitalized on a power play early in the second period, as Ryan Kero put the first goal on the scoreboard. Parker Hawk extended the Hermantown lead with a second goal late in the period.

Nate Pionk and Ryan Kero each scored in the third period to give the Hawks the 4-0 win in the section title game. Hermantown goalie Luke Olson blocked all 15 shots in the shutout; while opposing goaltender Alex Murray saw significantly more shots, stopping 37 of 41.

The Hermantown win marks a 3-game season sweep of the Hilltoppers on the 2014-2015 season. The win also gives the Hawks their 6th straight ticket to the Minnesota State Boys Hockey Tournament. Hermantown, who was named the top team in the last statewide Class A coaches poll, will await the announcement of their first opponent by the end of the weekend.
