Turns out for the Hermantown Hawks, the 7th time is the charm. After coming up short in the last six Class A Championship games, the Hawks were able to clear the hurdle and bring home the gold for the first time since 2007.

Hermantown's long run as the second place team in the state began in 2010 against Breck, where the Hawks lost 2-1. Fast forward to 2016, and there was just something in the air that felt like things were coming full circle, and it was finally time to change their fate as the bridesmaid.

Cole Koepke was the first to find the net in the game, posting a goal at the 9:47 mark in the opening period. Jesse Jacques and James Lindberg would add to the lead later in the first, giving Hermantown 3-0 lead at the first intermission. Logan Judnick would go on to score the only goal in the second period and Ryan Sandelin netted a short-handed goal late in the third to give the Hawks a 5-0 final score.

Senior Luke Olson pitched a shutout from between the pipes for Hermantown, posting 23 saves over the course of the game.
