The scene was familiar, the team was familiar, and the result was unfortunately familiar as well as East Grand Forks claimed their second straight Class A Championship against the Hermantown Hawks.

East Grand Forks jumped out to an early lead, posting the only two goals of the first period. Parker Hawk cut Hermantown's deficit in half and Nate Pionk tied things up in the first few minutes of the second period, but Dixon Bowen struck late in the period to give EGF a 3-2 lead going into the final period.

Austin Monda extended EGF's lead at the 4 minute mark of the third period, giving the Green Wave a 4-2 advantage the Hawks couldn't manage to put a dent in through the remainder of the first 16 minutes of the final period of regulation. With the goalie pulled and an extra attacker on the ice, Hermantown's Wyatt Aamodt and Eric Gotz scored goals separated by only 17 seconds to tie the game 4-4 and force overtime. At the 3:34 mark in the extra fraome, Tanner Tweten scored his second goal of the game to elevate East Grand Forks to their second straight Class A Title, and give Hermantown their sixth straight second place trophy.
