I love to walk the path and trails around the Hartley Nature Center, and JJ (my oldest) loves to take nature classes in the summertime to do crafts, take the trails, and learn more about some animals and critters.

Hartley takes on a whole new face in the winter. There are special classes, and you can ski the trails. From winter birds to trout streams, cross-country skiing to ice fishing-yes ice fishing.

Just like the summer camps there are winter camps. The new winter camp brochure is out and filled with many options for youth ages 4-9 during school breaks Dec. 27-28, 2012 and Feb. 18-22, 2013.

Mark your calendar for Saturday, January 26. That is the date for this annual event. From 4-7pm, your time at Hartley will be filled with candle-lined XC ski trails, skating on Hartley Pond, tasting cookies at a winter camping exhibit, roasting marshmallows by a warm fire and enjoying a taco salad supper. Space is limited so sign up soon. Call 218-724-6735
