Pet Sounds was the eleventh studio album by the Beach Boys and was, released May 16, 1966. It has since been recognized as one of the most influential records in the history of popular music and one of the best albums of the 1960s. 

Although Pet Sounds was met with strong sales abroad, reaching number two in the UK, it charted lower in the US than the majority of the band's preceding albums, peaking at number ten on the Billboard 200. It was ranked number two in Rolling Stones 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
