Exile on Main St. was released in May 1972 by Rolling Stones Records and although it originally received mixed reviews, Exile on Main St. is generally considered to be the Rolling Stones' greatest album. In 1987, Rolling Stone magazine ranked it third on the 100 Best Albums of the Last Twenty Years. In 2003, the album was ranked 7th on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.
