Carefully examine your credit card bills, and if you see a charge for $9.84, call the credit card company immediately. Someone else is using your card fraudulently, and testing to see if you catch that small charge.

If you don't catch the charge, thieves are then given a green light to use your card to charge whatever they want, according to an article in ABC News. The reason for the $9.84 charge is because such a small amount does not send up a red flag, and often times goes unnoticed by the card holder. The charge is often times disguised as a "billing charge."

What to do. First call your credit card company and notify them of the fraudulent charge. Next, have them issue you a new account number and card.
