It's game day, and high school football takes center stage across the Northland tonight. Among the games, ESPN 560 WEBC will have Hudson vs. Superior for the Spartans annual homecoming game with coverage starting at 6:30. They will have a parade in Superior earlier in the day, prior to the game.  The Spartans are 3-2 overall and 2-2 in the Big Rivers Conference.  Hudson unbeaten on the year at 5-0. and 4-0 in the conference.

On the Northland’s NewsCenter tonight, we will have Duluth East vs. Big Lake with a 7pm kick-off on My9.  East is 2-2 overall this year and Big Lake Hornets winless at 0-4.

The Greyhounds coming off a win over Denfeld last week and Head Coach Joe Hietala wants to keep that momentum going this week, “Yeah, that was a nice win last week, over Denfeld for sure.  The last couple weeks our guys are really coming around as far as our effort on the field, and executing in what we are trying to do, and things sure seemed to work out against Denfeld.”

East would like to get their first win at their new field tonight.  Coach Hietala knows it will be a challenge, “They are a team that’s much better than their record.  They have played the top teams in the conference tough, and we expect it to be a great battle.”  He added, “Watching them on film, they have some tough weapons and are tough across the front. They also have a defense that could give us some fits.”
