It's time to finish up those last clean-ups before the cold weather hits!  The City of Superior is offering free landfill days to residents on two consecutive Saturday's:  October 29 & November 5.  Household trash, brush, tires and yard waste will be accepted free of charge on both days - from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM.

Residents can bring their garbage to the landfill and take advantage of this free day.  While mattresses and box springs will also be accepted, the landfill will still be collecting regular fees:  $10 each if dry and fairly clean or $13 each if damp, wet or heavily soiled.

It should be noted that some items will still not be accepted at the landfill.  The following items need to be disposed of properly using alternative methods:

  • Hazardous waste
  • Demolition or construction waste
  • Recyclables
  • Electronics
  • Appliances
  • Batteries
  • Fluorescent bulbs
  • Used motor oil

Superior officials remind residents that all garbage brought to the landfill still must be tied or bagged.  Trailer loads needs to be covered during transport to avoid any penalties for littering.

Proof of residency will need to be presented at the gate.
