It looks like parts of the Northland will have some messy weather tonight and into tomorrow. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for an area just north of Duluth (around Knife River) along the North Shore and into the Arrowhead. The advisory, which is in effect from 3 pm today to 6 am Saturday, is for 2-5 inches of snow along with windy conditions.

Travel conditions along the shoreline and in the Arrowhead region will be poor this afternoon and evening, as slushy and heavy snow on roads combine with low visibility from the gusty wind.

The Twin Ports will experience rain and mixed precipitation as this system moves in, and will eventually turn to snow, offering a dusting to an inch or two at most according to the most recent forecast.
