Ex-Rolling Stones Guitarist Mick Taylor Books Six-Night Run at New York’s Iridium Club

So far, the 50th anniversary of the Rolling Stones hasn’t amounted to much — unless you count Ron Wood talking out of school about recording sessions and the rumored return of Bill Wyman to the band.

Whether or not former Stones guitarist Mick Taylor will be included in any real anniversary activities remains to be seen. But this much is certain: Right now, he has the most concert dates in 2012 of any living past or present Stone — a six-night run this month at the Iridium club in Manhattan.

Taylor, who is scheduled to perform two shows per evening, will be backed by some notable sideman from May 9-14, including legendary drummer Bernard Purdie and keyboardist Max Middleton.

The May 14 shows will also serve as the start of a new monthly series at the club dubbed Guitar World & The Iridium Present, and for those performances, Taylor will be joined by the Les Paul Trio. For many years, guitar legend Paul was a Monday-night mainstay at the Iridium. Paul’s band has carried on the tradition since his death in 2009.

Stones drummer Charlie Watts also has the Iridium on his itinerary this year. He’ll perform at the club June 29-30 and July 1-2.
