It's no secret that the Canal Park area is vital to the economy of Duluth and the greater Northland.  From tourists in the summer to the variety of businesses that pull residents there year-round, Canal Park has a lot to offer.

Expanding on the growth and finding ways to capitalize on it is at the heart of a new program called "Making Canal Park Pop". The program was recently awarded the Knight Cities Challenge - from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.

At the heart of the program is finding ways to utilize Canal Park year-round. Make Canal Park Pop will survey residents to see what they'd like to see in the area, launch a variety of pop-up installments in the park, and add to Duluth's Canal Park 2.0 Comprehensive Plan.

Organizers suggest that the program will begin next month and run through the end of 2018.
