Marine.  American hero.  Twin Ports native.  Corporal Mark Litynski served his country proudly through two deployments to Afghanistan.  Home after a combat-based injury left him without his left arm above the elbow and both legs above the knee - he's getting the help he needs to make sure his living situation is the best it can be.

On Thursday, September 25 at 10AM, there will be a groundbreaking ceremony for a community program that will culminate in a "Smart Home" that will be custom designed, built, and adapted to facilitate the needs of Cpl. Litynski.

Cpl. Litynski's injuries were suffered in the most honorable of ways.

During Mark’s second deployment to Afghanistan, he volunteered to be the point man on a foot patrol, where on November 19, 2010 he stepped on an improvised explosive device (IED). He suffered the loss of both legs above the knee and his left arm above the elbow, in addition to breaking his pelvis. Just two months after his injury, he was up and walking on his first set of prosthetics.

The ceremony will happen at 6340 Arnold Road in Duluth.
